Bouncer faces criminal injury claim
It has been revealed that a nightclub bouncer is facing a criminal injury claim, after he seriously injured a 25-year-old man.
The victim received severe personal injury, after the bouncer kicked his jaw in two weeks ago.
Sources close to the investigation confirmed the police were in the process of filing the charges in court.
The 25-year-old alleges the incident happened at around 2.30 am on August 15th, where he was visiting local nightclubs with two friends.
Bouncer 'attacks'
He has stated that the bouncer falsely accused him of urinating against a wall and an argument proceeded. He then claims he was attacked by the bouncer who fractured his jaw, after a blow with the knee.
According to the hospital report, the victim has bruises and swelling on both sides of the temple and other parts of his body, including his legs, in addition to the fractured jawbone. The injuries were classified as grievous.
The attack was so severe, that doctors had to place a metal frame to keep his jawbone in place until he underwent surgery to have a metal plate implanted. The victim presently is unable to eat anything unless the food is mashed and he cannot be given cold or hot drinks.
He has insisted that he was not drunk, as he only had five beers when the incident occurred.
Personal injury lawyers have commented that the part-time bouncer, who is also a soldier, will be charged with grievous bodily harm and committing a crime he was employed to prevent.
Currently, the Government is in the process of introducing regulations for bouncers and security officers employed in bars and nightclubs.
The reform is due to a previous nightclub attack, where a bouncer attacked a 29-year-old party goer, who later died. The bouncer is currently facing criminal proceedings for serious personal injury.
