Ladder accident leads to compensation
A man has been compensated with tens of thousands of pounds after he fell from a ladder and broke both of his feet.
The man was in his early sixties at the time of the accident was employed as a council worker, at the time of the incident. The man had been fixing a window at a council property.
To do this, the man had to stand on a ladder. As he was working, the ladder became unstable and caused the council worker to fall 12 feet to the ground.
The man suffered serious personal injuries as a result of the work accident. Both of the heel bones in his feet were affected. He was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries.
The man was left in a plaster cast for more than two months and along with this, the man was confined to using a wheelchair for six months. As time passed he went on to use crutches and eventually a walking stick.
The man reveals that he has been left in a lot of pain and even now, four years after the accident, his feet are painful all the time and in particular during the colder weather.
Accident claim after fall
The man decided to seek compensation and looked at making an accident claim for his personal injuries. He contacted no win no fee personal injury lawyers who represented the council worker in his claim for compensation. With their help the man was able to receive £45,000 in compensation.
A spokesperson for the no win no fee injury lawyer firm that represented the man, said: "Our client was experienced at his job but had to put the ladder up himself.”
Left alone without equipment
She also added that: “None of his colleagues were available to hold the ladder whilst he was on it and no equipment was available to him to secure the ladder to the house he was working on."
Speaking about the conditions the man said: “As well as suffering pain and the loss of my employment, the accident has caused me all sorts of difficulties. What used to be everyday tasks like driving the car or walking the dog have become very difficult.”
The man was also grateful for the help that he received and spoke about the help that the compensation will provide for him.
He concluded by saying that: “I’m gradually regaining the ability to do certain things. I’m grateful to my unison and to the personal injury lawyers firm, because the compensation goes some way towards helping me out on the financial side.”
